5 Incredible Hacks From The Athletes Mindset That You Can Easily Apply To Your Life Now.

I truly cannot believe I started this blog a year ago, December 2017. Why? Because at times it felt like a chore, I had commited to certain days for posts and coming up with ideas is sometimes a challenge.

But it keeps me focused, like the gym, it helps me see the bigger picture and keep my mind on the goals I have set for myself.

Have I doubted myself along the way? More times than I can remember!

Did I want to give up at some point? I did and believe me, it wasn’t easy to bring myself back up but the thought of giving up is worse than the pain of continuing so here I am and it gives me chills to share with you what I have learned so far from the fitness routine that I started in October 2016 and went full on half way through 2017.

The whole world can be falling apart that I will take a shower, wear my gym gear and smash the weights in the gym. The power that comes from making choices that are so painful yet so rewarding brings out the superhero in us.

The 5 Incredible Hacks From The Athletes Mindset That You Can Easily Apply To Your Life Now.

  1. Determination to continue when things get boring.

Most of the exercises that I do weekly are the same over and over again, I challenge my body but the basics are pretty basic and that’s why they work. Doing what works over and over out of drive is what brings results.

This is why is really important to choose something you feel curious and then passionate about, because the pain of mastering it has to be less than the reward of pushing through the stages of the learning process and growth.

Los 5 Increíble Hacks De La Mentalidad De Los Atletas Que Puedes Aplicar Fácilmente Para Mejorar Tu Vida Ahora.

2. Focus and clear goals.

Going to the gym without a clear goal is a complete waste of your time. You might as well use your energy for something else. Fitness is about setting goals, crushing the mental limits, is about moving past the ‘can’t’ to the ‘doing it’. It’s about being focused and it’s a mental game.

It has helped me see through my bullshit like nothing else has, the cheating, the lies, the excuses, the ego, the fake strength, the self consciousness and the self image.

2. Enfoque y metas claras.

3. Progressive improvement.

You can go from 0 to 1000 in the tech world, you might go from the basement of your home to developing a world shifting app, it has happened and it will happen again. But the brain, your mind, your body, your skills require some warm up and daily training.

You don’t learn this in school, how to behave socially, how to sell, speak in public, persuade, how important is to have a personal brand, how you can create your life. And it takes time, but with clear focus, a plan, a ton of determination and self belief you can reach the stars! Frustration is part of the learning process, just hang in there and keep going!

3. Mejora progresiva.

4. Challenges are opportunities for growth.

Like the legendary golf player Seve Ballesteros said: “I’d like to see the fairways more narrow. Then everyone would have to play from the rough, not just me.”

Being presented with a challenge is an opportunity to test your strength, your resilience, your belief in yourself, how badly you are willing to make your dreams come true. If life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

5. Self awareness of the weaknesses and strengths.

Since the moment I decided I was leveling up my fitness journey I could feel the pressure and overwhelm of the challenge, what I didn’t expect is the clarity, the window that opened in my mind: there’s no competition but myself, my habits, my mental limits, me vs. me, nobody else can do the work for me and the only person I lie is to myself if I cheat or I don’t follow through with the plan is me so as long as I follow the plan, one day at a time, all is good.

The same in life, follow through, pivot fast when you feel like you are in a plateau and believe in yourself!

The vision propels you when things get hard and believe me, you will be tested but it will all be worth it 😉 Keep moving forward!

NEVER SETTLE!

10 Butt Kicking Lessons I Have Learned About Taking Risks And Trusting The Process That Will Skyrocket Your Results In Life/Business.

There are tons of different kinds of pains, and since we can choose some of them choose the pain that will bring the biggest reward in the long run.

Let’s say you want to get the physique of your dreams, what’s the best way to do it? Lift weights! Only cardio is a waste of time.

Life/Business is the same, I could work 10 hours at 12£ an hour or I can take my steel balls and make shit happen!

9e576177-d9a6-4514-9e31-b6e1bbc68077-originalThe pain in one is giving away my time for money and suffering the anxiety of knowing that my time is being wasted. The other pain is facing my fear of rejection, failure, mistakes, not being good enough and being too crazy, too risky, falling and loosing.

My choice? Better face the fears because my life is too precious to be wasted!

I am writing on the bus to a bodybuilding show, I feel my heart racing because I am making quick and fast decisions towards achieving my goals, being fearless and testing my beliefs, putting pressure on myself, my back against the wall, and I like the feeling, I feel alive, in control.

Last week I was speaking at a meetup and one of the ladies helps women find confidence and empower themselves, she has a full time job and then the side business, she is ready but she is holding back…how do I expect to tell anybody to kick their own ass if I am in the same boat?

Reality check test: to be able to fly I have to jump as many times as I need to in order to break free.

What I have learned about taking risks and trusting the process:

  1. We forget easy and quick how strong and brave we are.
  2. We look for comfort and we loose our power when settling.
  3. It’s so easy to give up on our fight, when the odds are “against” us it’s so easy to play the victim.
  4. The only way to break through the chains of life is by practicing our talk.
  5. We assume that we have to suffer instead of understanding that it’s through pain that we grow.
  6. Struggle is only struggle if you are chained to average thinking, this is a game. Play!
  7. I forget that I am the creator not a character in the movie.
  8. I must be disciplined every single day and remember the truth of who I am.
  9. My dreams, my life, my goals are the main priority.
  10. Nothing can stop me!

Bonus lesson:

I think clearer when on the road! 😉

5 Tips for BUSY Entrepreneurs Who Want to Be Fearless and Fierce.

This is a mental game.

Let’s start there. Everything you see is a perception, once you are awake then you can make your dreams come true. Full stop.

So the first step is awakening and saving yourself.

lindsey-trapp-743541-unsplash.jpg

Today I am sharing with you some self assesment questions I ask myself to make sure that I am on track to fulfilling my goals.

  • Who do I need to become in order for me to succeed?
  • What do I need to learn for me to become the person that I want to be?
  • What’s keeping me so busy that I am being less productive than I would like to be?
  • Who do I need to reach out in order for me to complete my goals?
  • What are my strengths?
  • What are my weaknesses?
  • How can I focus on my strenghts and build them even stronger?
  • Am I doing what I said I would do when I was overly excited or have I slipped off because I have discovered that it’s a bit harder than expected?
  • Am I procrastinating or am I recovering and resting because my body and mind need a break?
  • Am I honest with my results or could I do more and better?
  • What are the tools that I have at hand for me to succeed?
  • What else could I be doing to get where I want to get faster?
  • What’s my plan?

lindsey-trapp-743553-unsplash.jpg

  • How can I measure my success?
  • How strong do I hit back after failure?
  • How can I make sure I am focused on my goals and shut down distractions?
  • How do I silence the noise of the world?
  • Where do I want to be 6 months from now?
  • What’s the greatest vision that I have for my life?
  • Am I taking steps towards making that vision a reality or am I daydreaming and wishful thinking?
  • What are the habits that I need to implement, change or adopt for me to become who I dream to become?
  • Who am I?

lindsey-trapp-744768-unsplash.jpg

After asking yourself this questions and with a clearer view of where you stand you can then apply these 5 simple tips to become fearless and attack life with fierceness:

  1. Have a clear vision – it will evolve and grow with you, what’s in store for YOU is much more than you can posibly imagine 😉 Believe!
  2. Focus on what works and repeat over and over again – mastery is a habit, consistency is key. (Don’t confuse this with beating yourself up, choose wisely the pain you will endure, success will take it all from you, choose what makes your soul sing and give it your all!)
  3. Be resilient: do the hard things first thing in the morning – meditate and train hard.
  4. Have a can do attitude – your mindset determines the quality of your results.
  5. Plan and follow through with some steel balls – jump and the net will appear!

How To Turn Your Fears Into Fuel and Go From Zero to Hero in 5 Steps.

Life is about growing your mind and your lifestyle, if you look for comfort chances are you aren’t going to fulfil your potential. If you are able to let go of your comfort and embrace uncertainty, get high building strength in front of adversity, if you are hungry and willing to learn and be helped and guided, then you will feel the fear of the unknown and yet, live the journey to success with much ease.

Silence the noise of the world, shut down the naysayers, kick life hard when it knocks you down, be reborn, understand who you are and understand that the chains of life are merely illusions.

jon-tyson-796591-unsplash.jpg

When I decided to go full on with my coaching business I had no idea of what I was going into, admin work, accounts, taxes, bills, organising my money, getting rid of unhealthy habits that could spread like fire, it’s more about inner work and taking ownership of my behaviour than systems and procedures.

Business in the end is a way for us to accomplish our dreams, is a tool to help us achieve our goals and make an impact.

Our business is connected to our personal brand that’s our personal core.

Your business reflects who you are but it’s not you.

To be successful you have to kill ego, you have to let go of the character and be bold to get what you want.

alex-iby-455484-unsplash.jpg

Starting a business, scaling an existing one, anything that pushes you out of your comfort zone will push your buttons and bring to the surface actions that you kept buried in the subconscious until you work on them.

In order to go from zero to great you will have to face your deepest fears and procrastination.

How?

Meditate.

Seriously. It’s the best way to embrace who you are.

And then:

  • Acknowledge that you are scared, admit it and take ownership of your fears.
  • Understand that fears aren’t real, they are product of your monkey mind, past beliefs and your choices.
  • Make a choice, seeing them as opportunities to rise or staying where you are dormant to your true potential.
  • Take action, one day at a time, with action you build up confidence and the better your results the more fearless you become.
  • Every time you feel the fear reframe it, if you aren’t feeling uncomfortable you aren’t growing, feel the excitement, you are about to breakthrough!

YOU are always in control.

YOU can always make a choice.

YOU can always choose how YOU act.

If YOU feel like you are moving in circles, take a step back and adjust, review the plan, change.

YOU are the creator.

Your game, your choices, your rules!

Create!

5 Truths No One Will Tell You But You Need To Hear About Living With Courage.

Last year I bought all of Brené Brown‘s books after watching her TedTalk on vulnerability and immersed myself in her world of wisdom. While a lot of the things she writes are incredibly inspiring others seemed to me a bit cheesy and repetitive. A once and enough read in my opinion.

The best thing that I took from her books was that haters will hate but she fights them back saying: “If you’re not in the arena getting your butt kicked too, I’m not interested in your feedback.” I completely agree and I feel the freedom to express my opinion because yes, my ass is getting kicked in the arena.

simon-maage-706908-unsplash.jpg

Number 1:

Daring greatly seems a bit daunting when you come from a place of living following the rules of the status quo, years of conditioning aren’t erased in a night and it takes a ton of will power and hunger to actually make bigger changes, faster, for the long term.

Number 2:

Living with courage is scarry and risky, you will fall, you will get hurt, you will cry, you will rise and you will fly. Why? Because to find your courage you have to dig deeper, deal with your issues, let go of the past and become who you decide to be. You always have tools at hand though if you are willing to pursue the journey of a lifetime! Courage opens the doors to opportunity!

oliver-cole-232552-unsplash.jpg

Number 3:

You will have to shred people like dead skin, leave friends and family if needed behind, your identity, your belongings, whatever it is that can hold you back and stop you from your growth. You will have to let go of the attachment of what once was and what you thought could be to truly pursue what you desire.

Number 4:

What happens when you don’t know what you want? you may ask. Well, then you find the courage to keep trying things and learning from every experience until something clicks and you choose to go all in, until then, try every single thing that calls your attention and be brave to not give af* about what could happen if something goes wrong, adventures start with a relentless fire and are written along the way!

justin-luebke-92162-unsplash.jpg

Number 5:

Every single scar will have a story, one day everything will make sense and it will be ok. Everything in your life has been placed there for you to grow, it’s up to you to take on the challenge of the epic story of the life you can create. On the other side of all the pain, sweat, blood and tears will emerge your true self, strong, wild and fierce! IF YOU DARE!

A Start-To-Finish Guide to Behavior Change.

When working with my clients the most common thread is starting a new habit and sticking to it, changing the behaviors they have been carrying for years and being consistent with the new ways of doing.

After all this years, learning, studying, applying myself and seeing others fail and succeed today I wanted to share in depth how there is a “simple” way of actually succeeding in behavior change.

Personally, I believe it all comes down to, HOW BADLY DO YOU WANT IT?

If the desire for and the feeling of that reward is bigger than the fear of getting out of your comfort zone chances are you are a winner, if you’d rather stay in the couch and complain then…well…you know the story.

jaco-pretorius-601147-unsplash.jpg

In this start to finish guide to help you with behavior change I will share 5 simple, effective, steps to conquer once and for all any obstacle your mind is placing in your way.

Again, your beliefs shape your reality, so if you think you will remain stagnant and never conquer, that’s a self fulfilling prophecy because you will feel demotivated and give up. If, on the other hand, you have a deep belief that you can achieve anything then you will indeed, achieve anything you set your mind to.

There are 5 stages to behavior change. Two researchers named Prochaska and DiClemente developed a way of describing it in what they called the Stages of Change Model. Though originally developed in the context of smoking cessation, it’s five stages actually describe the process by which all behaviors change.

Stage 1)

Denial and resistance. You might be told that something needs change and yet deny the fact that you need help, why would things be going wrong if you are feeling ok? WRONG! You are comfortable and living in habit that doesn’t mean that you are doing well. If you choose to see every trigger as a messenger and are willing to investigate why you are being triggered then you will move on to the next stage and evolve.

timothy-choy-695124-unsplash.jpg

Stage 2)

In this stage you know you have to change something and you are contemplating the idea of changing. The key here is to find a deep reason why to change, and it has to be personal and motivating. For some of you going to the gym is a burden, if you shift the preception to training for a longer, happier and better life or being able to run with your kids, or to stop beong jealous of those beach bodies…whatever motivates you is what will kick your ass, not what you are supposed to do but what you deeply feel like you have to do.

oliver-sjostrom-636186-unsplash.jpg

You will find obstacles at this stage – I’ve seen couples, one trying to loose weight and the partner bringing cake post workout – , remember that you come from doing things a certain way and everything around you is used to you being a certain way, the same way is hard for you to change it is as well for your environment because you changing means that they will have to change or, you will organically move on. You will succeed if the reason why you must change is stronger than the obstacles.

Stage 3)

Determination. At this stage you are full on preparing, getting ready for action, determined to breakthrough and change your ways. In my case it meant cutting of smoking, drinking, going out and sleepless nights. It wasn’t overnight, I had to be really fed up with my situation and be triggered by a sudden death for me to act. Once you are ready and filled with the belief that you can change then you take action!

frank-busch-703781-unsplash.jpg

Stage 4)

Wisdom comes from experience and action is wisdom. One day you wake up and you are consistently going to the gym, the battle is mental this time though, you are going to the gym consistently, start comparing yourself to others, suffer the fight of feeling not good enough, you continue showing up and even though every demon will try to defeat you, there you are, changed!

jordan-rowland-773083-unsplash.jpg

Stage 5)

Consistency and maintaining the behaviors require you to be abstinent and far away from temptation, whatever your temptation is or was. If you were addicted to porn you will have to be away from it and be aware of what triggers you to relapse.

mpho-mojapelo-109897-unsplash.jpg

Because, yes, you will relapse and relapse isn’t failure as long as you don’t give up. Every time you fall you can learn from it and rise up stronger. The thing is the more determined you become, the higher goals you set, the more challenging the outcomes, the harder the battle, the stronger you become and the less and less relapses you will have.

ramy-kabalan-1099339-unsplash.jpg

Know yourself, know your strengths, know your weaknesses, know what makes you say F*** it and throw the towel and know what keeps your fire lit!

Changing your behavior is not a punishment, discipline isn’t suffering, embrace pain as part of growth. Changing is for good and for the better. When I see an athlete sweating his or her ass off, or a boxer fighting for a title, I see greatness, that sweat, pain, blood and tears is what makes the reward so addictive.

When bettering your life it feels painful because old ways must die, the old you must die,  your character, ego driven, must die and that feels painful, it takes balls and it takes courage but what’s on the other side is greatness and that, well, that’s what you were born for 😉

NEVER SETTLE!

The ultimate 5 TIPS to help YOU stick to a new habit.

For me the key to success is in achieving goals, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly that summed up will make your life the success you dream of.

Although the definition of success is very broad and personal and here are some of the most succesful people in the world and their own personal definitions of success.

The one that stands out for me is the definition of Stephen Covey, author of “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People“, a must read if you want to have more resources to speed up your growth:

“If you carefully consider what you want to be said of you in the funeral experience,” he writes in the book, “you will find your definition of success.”

Starting a new habit is hard, being honest with yourself that you must change something in your life is hard, admitting it and taking action towards implementing change is hard. Or that’s what you tend to believe.

rawpixel-1064349-unsplash.jpg

Change is hard or so you believe and some of the reasons why you don’t stick to a new habit for long are:

  • You aren’t motivated enough.
  • You talk yourself out of it because you don’t really believe you can do it.
  • You are not consistent enough and after starting you miss a few days and get back to being where you started.
  • You listen to others who aren’t where you want to be but they are your friends or family and they must want you good so why give you a bad advice, right? WRONG!
  • You start too many new habits at a time and don’t follow through.

The list could go on and on because the list of excuses we make when we don’t want to face the truth is endless.

Here is another truth for you, starting a new habit can be easy, sticking to it as well, and it’s all up to your mindset and developing a consistent routine that will help you achieve those goals faster.

My first tip that will help you stick to that new habit you want to implement in your life to better it is: start with 1 or 2 habits at a time. Let’s say you want to start meditation and eating healthy, good, introduce both practices in your daily to do list as a must do.

lacey-williams-692316-unsplash.jpg

The second tip will be just START and start with small steps, going from eating junk daily to eating whole foods takes a lot of will power so start with a meal a day, few poses of yoga, 30 minutes of exercise or meditating 10 minutes a day during 4 weeks. After those 4 weeks level up and do 20 minutes of meditation or 2 healthy meals a day, 45 minutes of training etc You get the point.

jon-tyson-520850-unsplash.jpg

Third tip? Observe your thought patterns. Watch how your mind talks you out of your new habit. This can happen even to an experienced meditation master, to an athlete, to a successful person, we will be tested, your mind will play all kinds of tricks to keep you in the comfort zone, even if that comfort zone is a place where you are unhappy somehow is better than the unknown. Be self aware and continue moving forward, you are always in control of your choices.

form-679347-unsplash.jpg

My fourth tip to help you start a new habit and actually sticking to it is, never ever miss 2 days, never cheat two meals in a row. With this one as always I use my passion for fitness to set the example, let’s say you have started a new diet plan because you have a specific and challenging goal in mind, you are pushing your limits and moving past the plateau you found yourself at (you can apply this to anything in life because whenever you reach a limit in any area of your life that means you are in a plateau, mentally, physically, financially, emotionally or spiritually). So, if you slip one day or cheated one meal, make sure the day after you catch up full on, no excuses, you train harder, control your food intake and make sure you remember what happens if you miss one day. Your mind gets stronger with time and so do your habits.

in-bossmode-625631-unsplash.jpg

My fifth tip? Be accountable, tell your closest friends what you want to achieve, have people around you who will be super honest with you, it’s better to listen to the hard truth than living in a delusion. Be accountable and consistent and you will see results!
