The ultimate 5 TIPS to help YOU stick to a new habit.

For me the key to success is in achieving goals, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly that summed up will make your life the success you dream of. 

Although the definition of success is very broad and personal and here are some of the most succesful people in the world and their own personal definitions of success.

The one that stands out for me is the definition of Stephen Covey, author of “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People“, a must read if you want to have more resources to speed up your growth:

“If you carefully consider what you want to be said of you in the funeral experience,” he writes in the book, “you will find your definition of success.”

Starting a new habit is hard, being honest with yourself that you must change something in your life is hard, admitting it and taking action towards implementing change is hard. Or that’s what you tend to believe.

Change is hard or so you believe and some of the reasons why you don’t stick to a new habit for long are: 

  • You aren’t motivated enough. 
  • You talk yourself out of it because you don’t really believe you can do it. 
  • You are not consistent enough and after starting you miss a few days and get back to being where you started. 
  • You listen to others who aren’t where you want to be but they are your friends or family and they must want you good so why give you a bad advice, right? WRONG!
  • You start too many new habits at a time and don’t follow through.  

The list could go on and on because the list of excuses we make when we don’t want to face the truth is endless. 

Here is another truth for you, starting a new habit can be easy, sticking to it as well, and it’s all up to your mindset and developing a consistent routine that will help you achieve those goals faster. 

My first tip that will help you stick to that new habit you want to implement in your life to better it is: start with 1 or 2 habits at a time. Let’s say you want to start meditation and eating healthy, good, introduce both practices in your daily to do list as a must do.

The second tip will be just START and start with small steps, going from eating junk daily to eating whole foods takes a lot of will power so start with a meal a day, few poses of yoga, 30 minutes of exercise or meditating 10 minutes a day during 4 weeks. After those 4 weeks level up and do 20 minutes of meditation or 2 healthy meals a day, 45 minutes of training etc You get the point.

Third tip? Observe your thought patterns. Watch how your mind talks you out of your new habit. This can happen even to an experienced meditation master, to an athlete, to a successful person, we will be tested, your mind will play all kinds of tricks to keep you in the comfort zone, even if that comfort zone is a place where you are unhappy somehow is better than the unknown. Be self aware and continue moving forward, you are always in control of your choices.

My fourth tip to help you start a new habit and actually sticking to it is, never ever miss 2 days, never cheat two meals in a row. With this one as always I use my passion for fitness to set the example, let’s say you have started a new diet plan because you have a specific and challenging goal in mind, you are pushing your limits and moving past the plateau you found yourself at (you can apply this to anything in life because whenever you reach a limit in any area of your life that means you are in a plateau, mentally, physically, financially, emotionally or spiritually). So, if you slip one day or cheated one meal, make sure the day after you catch up full on, no excuses, you train harder, control your food intake and make sure you remember what happens if you miss one day. Your mind gets stronger with time and so do your habits.

My fifth tip? Be accountable, tell your closest friends what you want to achieve, have people around you who will be super honest with you, it’s better to listen to the hard truth than living in a delusion. Be accountable and consistent and you will see results!

5 steps that help YOU achieve YOUR goals faster.

This life is time and the more you wake up the more you see the limitless posibilities of it.

Successful people know how to say yes to what helps them achieve their goals and how to cut off the BS and anything that may stop them from bettering their life.

How can I achieve my goals faster?

Well, first of all make sure you have clear goals and then use this 5 simple steps, you can apply them to anything that you do in life:

1. Focus on 2 or 3 goals at a time. When you see the big picture, break down the bigger goals in smaller phases and stick to them until successful. How do you know you have achieved a goal? Here comes the second step.

2. Set targets, set deadlines and measure your results. The same way you measure yourself when training in the gym measure your results in any other aspect of your life. Put some pressure, challenge your limits! It’s all your mindset! Are you a winner or a cry baby? Simple question!

3. Understand that patience will cost you the game and you have to learn to balance the drive to succeed with the patience of the marathon that is the succesful life you are creating.

4. Ask for help, there are people who have been where you want to be that can help you reach your goals faster. The master appears when the student is ready and once it does it’s responsibility of the student to dive deep in whatever the subject of study is.

5. Consistency and discipline. Even when you feel like there is no progress the simple fact of showing up and doing the same things over and over, over time prove that you are comitted and results will show.

5 TIPS to ask for what YOU want with Confidence.

Confidence is a skill and like every skill it requires practice, daily practice, learning from mistakes and grit to continue moving forward despite the challenges and falls.

Brian Tracy said: “The future, in sales and in business belongs to those who ask for what they want over and over again.”

I say that the future belongs to those who ask for what they want in every area of their lives and never settle with a no, or less than what they deserve.

Confidence is a habit and like every habit you must practice it daily until it’s part of your routine. 

How can you ask confidently for what you want if you still don’t believe that you deserve it?

Success in building up your confidence is simple repetition of things that work over and over until you get the results you desire. 

Confidence builds up every time you implement a new habit and commit to the practice. Once you see that you are capable of following through you can upgrade and level up your goals. 

When helping my clients they learn that it’s more about accountability and pushing pass the pain and resistance that any other strategy, like in fitness and the gym, life is about pushing through what we think is holding us back.

You will stumble, you will fall, you will make mistakes and you will beat yourself up. It’s ok!

You win as long as you keep moving forward and learning from every experience. 

So here they go, 5 POWERFUL tips to help you ask for what you want confidently:

1) Know your reason why, ask yourself why am I doing this? That deep reason why will wake you up in the morning and it’s going to help you and propel you to the next level. This reason has to be selfish and it doesn’t have to make sense to anybody else but you. 

2) Get as many nos as possible, the more nos you get the thicker your skin, the better you face rejection and the stronger you become because you get closer to that yes. This one requires you to believe that what you are creating, building, offering is worth the hustle and the pain of facing rejection. 

3) Learn to say no to things that don’t resonate with you. You are not missing anything, your opportunities are for you, you play the game your way, your rules. Nothing that’s meant to be for you will ever get away.

4) Face rejection as redirection, learn from it, see what you can improve. What can you do better the next time so it doesn’t happen again? Never take anything personal! 

5) JUST ASK! It doesn’t matter if your voice is shaking, if you are not feeling 100%, it doesn’t matter! Just ask, have the courage to ask for what you want. Kids never give up, they ask, try different ways until they get what they want right? Play your game to win!

How to get out of your way

The 10 best ways to get things done, better and faster!

Have you ever asked yourself if it’s possible to get more things done, better and faster? 

It is possible. 

And you may ask, how?

Prioritising. Making sure that first of all you have a clear vision, goals set in place, targets to achieve and that you are tracking your progress.

If you are just starting to set goals and this task seems daunting, start with creating the habit of daily to do lists, marking those tasks in your calendar and limiting them to 5.

Those 5 things must be aligned with your main goals.

So here the 10 best ways to get things done, better and faster!

1) Know your goals, if you know where you are going it’s “easier” to break the goals down and create small phases, chunks of activities that need to be done by certain time in order to achieve the bigger goal. This can be applied to business and life. Once you know where you want to be, everything else is a time waster. What are you willing to sacrifice to be your best?

2) Prioritise using your cold blood aka.wisdom, know which tasks are urgent, important, not urgent, urgent but not important, and delegate the ones that aren’t important at all. You have to be 200% focused in what needs to be done. If you can’t delegate/outsource for whatever reason, make sure you do them at the speed of light in the last part of the day.

3) Know your best hour. Some researchs say that the hours before 12pm are the most productive ones. Use your first hours to meditate, exercise, clear your mind and start the day strong with the most important tasks. As the day goes by, tackle the social activities and other commitments that you might have.

4) Learn to say no! I can’t stress this one often enough to my clients. Say no! This is your life, you are the director, the creator, say no to BS, to projects and requests that come when you are working on your main tasks, to chit chat that drains your energy, keep your head in the game and stay focused. Anything that is not related to any of your goals is procrastination. If you need help with this one you can always ask me for more tips.

5) This on is my saviour and now instead of just planning the day before I plan weeks, months and even years in advance. Plan ahead! Have a list of the 5 main tasks that you need to accomplish the next day so that when you go to bed your mind is clear and even though it might take a while to fall sleep (been there) just be disciplined enough to stay in bed because your tasks are set and your body needs rest.

6) Track your distractions, seriously. Write down every time you look at your phone, stand up for a cup of coffee, change the music, speak to someone or a fly enters the room. Once you are aware of the distractions have the will power to switch everything off and focus in the task at hand.

7) Outsource as much as you can. There is an app for almost everything right now, the small bits of the day need to be done,  fine, find. someone who can do them or simply declutter and live minimal while you are building. Your choice, your time.

8) Meditate, this one may sound spiritual, gipsy, too new age or whatever, still, the benefits of meditation have been globally proven and again, there are amazing apps like Headspace that can help you clear your mind. You might think is a joke until you test it, you commit, you do it for 90 days and seeing the results you have to keep going.

9) Take care of yourself. This one should be number 1. You are the machine, the engine that is moving everything in your life. This was the turning point for me, I want to retire young and sexy, so first is the mind, then the body and then everything else. This is a marathon, not a race, a journey. Live long, live well, eat healthy, sleep your hours, exercise and rest when you have to in order to balance your energies. You MUST be at the top of your to do list! Daily!

10) Wake up earlier! Ask yourself how many hours are you wasting just chilling in the sofa? How many hours scrolling the Facebook feed? Even if not hours, simply half and hour of wasted time is that, wasted life. I recommend this blocker, works with Chrome, for the Facebook feed when you are working.

The #1 obstacle I faced when starting my business was…believing in myself enough to know that I could really do this thing called my own business and stopping procrastination. 

Can you relate to the overwhelming feeling of entering the unknown world of having your own business?: 

  • Will I be delivering a good enough service?
  • Will this work?
  • Will people even buy?
  • How do I ask for money for something that comes so natural to me?

The more you look for answers in books, blogs and other people’s experiences the worst it gets, anxiety takes over and leaves you completely paralysed full of FEAR.

How to develop a thick skin.

And when I mean thick I mean, learn to cope with the nos, learn to cope with rejection, become so strong in your truth that you learn to let go of anything that doesn’t serve your purpose.

Rejection is redirection, anytime you get a no it takes you closer to that yes that will shift your direction and continue propeling you towards achieving your goals. 

When I hear people say, it’s hard, it’s complicated, it’s a struggle…seriously? If it was easy everyone would do it and that’s why you must push hard.

To develop a thick skin means as well to learn to listen, not everybody that is nice with you wants you well and not everybody that’s ignoring you wants you bad. Discern, listen and decide what you take, what you allow and what you delete.

Sometimes it will be subtle, just a few words mid conversation that tell you everything about the person in front of you, sometimes it will be so subtle like a facial expression, or you won’t even notice and it won’t show but you can sense it. Tune into that, your gut knows better.

Remember, this is your game, you are in control, you decide what, who, where, when and why. The rest is simply background noise, shut it down, focus, keep the tunnel vision towards your goals, remember that the road can be long and smooth or short and sweet, the speed is perfectly timed and yours is individual to you. This is your game, take what serves you and shred what doesn’t.

Thick skin is also being aware when you want to please somebody else, being aware of the reasons why you want to please somebody else than you, being mindful of the consequences and choosing to put yourself first.

People pleasing and success only go hand in hand if you are selling ice cream. If you are battling for greatness prepare for war because they will come from all the angles, keep your centre and remember, you are winning in the end!

And the hardest will be in your mind, with all those beliefs that you think to be truth, with all the limitations that you think to be truth, with all the fears that you take as truth, with all the memories that keep you small and with all the habits that keep you stuck.

Let go!

Develop a thick skin by going out there and learning to ask for feedback, learn to take criticism and comprehend that both days you are winning, wether they praise you or they judge you.

The power of listening.

This one has been a massive breakthrough and when I say listen I mean that, listen to the voice of others, not the voice in your head thinking about the next story to follow the conversation, follow their story and ask questions, be curious! 

By listening we can see through, we can get to comprehend what others are experiencing and for me it’s interesting as well because to be honest, we are little aware of the words we use and how we use them, we affirm things about ourselves product of laziness or lack of self awareness and believe those things to be true. 

Words are power.

A word placed correctly can change the complete meaning of a sentence, a life, a day. 

A word misplaced or misused can condemn a situation, a person. 

Words are a great tool when appropriately used.

This is about the words we use out and the words we use in our heads. 

What are you feeding your mind? 

What are the repeating thought patterns? 

What are you over and over and over again playing in your head believing that to be true? 

In a previous post I wrote about the power of our thoughts and how they create our reality, words create thoughts and our thoughts connect with our emotions and then we take action. 

Just imagine ok, that you are able to think successful, positive, greatness, faith, strength, wisdom, 90% of the time. 

The trick here is more about being aware and patient through the journey than bottling happy thoughts. 

There is a secret and the secret is that whatever you feed your mind with that you will become. 

Simple. Powerful.

What you think you are is the product of books, media, people, situations, memories and beliefs transferred by bloodline or relationships. 

Imagine there is a way of transforming your life from the inside out, simply by reframing every single situation, memory, thought, belief, that you have. 

That’s a gigantic work right? The results are mind blowing! It’s worth working on it! 

To do this exercise the best way is to work on presence, on seeing what’s in front of you, learn how to read between the lines, ask questions if you can’t comprehend something, people will tell you what they need and what they are looking for if you are able to focus on them instead of focusing on you. 

Practical applications? 

Networking, business, relationships and life in general. The more you practice this skill the better you get at it.

Tip to get it better: remember that everyone has an opinion and not everyone’s opinion matters. Know yourself, know your strengths, and take the advice of those that resonate with you. You decide your life experience, be fearless!
